I applied online but have not heard anything. What is happening?

If you received an email confirmation and were able to click on the link then your application is being processed and your membership card will be mailed to you shortly. If you did not receive an email confirmation after making your application, check your email junk inbox or submit another application.

I applied for a Free2go membership at an event a few weeks ago, and still haven't received my membership pack. Why?

Due to the large number of applications we receive at events it may take some time for NRMA to process your application, however if you apply online you will be eligible for road service benefits and you will receive a confirmation email with your membership details.

Who is eligible to enter the Free2go Program?

An individual may join the NRMA Motoring & Services Free2go program if they are between the ages of 17 - 20 years.

Year 1 - If joining when 17 or 18 pay absolutely nothing and get FREE roadside assistance for 12 months in any vehicle.

Year 2 - If joining when 19 pay half price of Freedom Care and continue to get Free2go roadside assistance for 12 months in any vehicle OR pay $0 and continue to get Free2go discounts and membership benefits until year 3 of the program (excluding roadside assistance)

Year 3 - If joining when 20 pay full price for Freedom Care and continue to get roadside assistance for 12 months in any vehicle OR pay $0 and continue to get Free2go benefits for 12 months (excluding roadside assistance).

What if I'm older than 20?

You can choose from the range of NRMA Motoring & Services membership packages. Details of these packages are available at www.mynrma.com.au.  If you're under 25 we'll waive the joining fee for any NRMA membership package you purchase and you can still access all Free2go benefits excluding roadside assistance.

What are the benefits of Free2go?

The benefits of Free2go Membership can be divided into three categories:-

1. Freedom Care - roadside assistance

•       4 roadside assistance callouts per year
•       Roadside assistance whether you are the driver or passenger in the vehicle that breaks down (excludes commercial vehicles and taxis)

•       8km free towing in metropolitan areas (Sydney, Newcastle, Blue Mountains, Illawarra and ACT)
•       Free towing in country areas back to the town of the NRMA country service centre that attends to your breakdown

2. Non-roadside assistance benefits including:

•       Exclusive discounts with NRMA Safer Driving School (call 1300 MYNRMA)

How much does Free2go cost?

Year 1 - Pay absolutely nothing and get FREE roadside assistance for 12 months in any vehicle.

Year 2 - Pay half price of Freedom Care ($39.70) and continue to get roadside assistance for 12 months in any vehicle OR pay $0 and continue to get Free2go discounts and membership benefits until year 3 of the program (excluding roadside assistance)

Year 3 - Pay full price for Freedom Care ($79.40) and continue to get roadside assistance for 12 months in any vehicle OR pay $0 and continue to get Free2go benefits for 12 months (excluding roadside assistance).

What if I am in Year 2 or Year 3 of the Free2go program with no roadside assistance coverage and now require roadside assistance?

Don't get caught out. To get roadside assistance coverage, click here, call 13 11 22 or drop into your local NRMA office. Make sure you pay before you require roadside assistance otherwise you will incur additional fees.

Why is a person covered in any car they are travelling in with Free2go?

NRMA has recognised that people usually learn to drive before they get a car. They often borrow their parents' or friends' cars or are passengers in their friends' cars before they buy their own. As a result, we have created the Free2go program which covers the individual named on the membership so that they are entitled to receive roadside assistance in any vehicle they are travelling in.

What if I am eligible to join the Free2go program, but have already paid for a regular NRMA membership package?

You will need to cancel your existing regular membership to join the Free2go program. Sorry we can't give you a refund when you cancel your current membership package but with Free2go we'll help you in any vehicle you're travelling in.

What happens if I am a Member of the Free2go program but would like to access other regular NRMA membership packages that are not part of the Free2go program? (i.e. Classic Care or Premium Care)?

If you are in Year 1 or Year 2 of the Free2go program you will need to cancel your existing Free2go membership, join as a regular Member and pay full price for that package (i.e. Classic Care or Premium Care). If you are in Year 3 of the Free2go program, Classic Care and Premium Care are available to you.

What do I do if I breakdown?

Call NRMA on 13 11 11 (the number is on the back of your Free2go membership card), quote your Free2go membership number and give your details to the NRMA operator. When the NRMA Patrol Officer arrives you will need to show your Free2go card and some photo identification to prove your identity.

What if I break down and am not a Free2go Member?

If you break down without being part of the Free2go program you will have to pay an "On-Road Join and Go" fee plus any applicable Free2go subscription package fees in full by credit card before roadside assistance can be provided.

What happens after Year 3 of the Free2go program?

After your final year as a Member of the Free2go program, you can choose from a range of our regular NRMA membership packages that best suit your needs. Plus you'll also continue to get exclusive discounts that you received as part of the Free2go program until you're 25, access to great competitions, as well as access to NRMA's Show Your Card & Save program.
